ABOUT HEARTLAND SCHOLAR HOUSE
Heartland Scholar House stands in the gap between a single mother starting college and finishing it. Most get pulled away before the finish line and we're built to close that gap.
Founded by former Senator Doug Eckerty in Central Indiana. We provide single mothers with stable housing, academic coaching, family advocacy, and life- skills training — everything it takes to earn a degree while raising a family. Their children grow up in a community built around them.
One degree changes everything for a mother and her children.
Since welcoming our first Scholar in Anderson in 2022, we've grown to three campuses across Central Indiana - Anderson, Muncie, and Marion. We're affiliated with Family Scholar House in Louisville, where nearly 9 in 10 Scholars walk across the stage to a degree.
On August 20th, you'll meet the families behind this work, starting with the very first Scholar to call Heartland home.
A documentary. A shared meal. A table where everyone belongs.
